While residing in New Orleans, she was a coordinator for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Program, during which time she discovered her passion for psychology, children, and community service.

Dr. Jimenez earned her Master and Specialist degrees from Barry University. Concurrently, she gained valuable knowledge at the University of Miami’s Mailman Center for Childhood Development where she worked as an early interventionist (language and play therapy) and conducted psycho-educational evaluations on 3 to 5 year-old children in the Head Start Program. Due to her great interest on the subject matter, her thesis research was conducted on Autism Spectrum Disorders. Dr. Jimenez earned her Doctoral degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Her dissertation focused on the parental perceptions of ADHD and their influence on parenting practices.

In addition to fulfilling the traditional role of the school psychologist, identifying the psycho-educational needs of children, Dr. Jimenez works well with others by taking note of their needs and providing viable solutions creating personalized academic and behavioral interventions. Ultimately, it is the goal of Dr. Jimenez to assist families in helping their children reach their maximum potential emotionally and academically. Every child has strengths which are too often overlooked; therefore, further understanding a child’s learning style can make a world of a difference in the effectiveness of their education delivery and, more importantly, in how the child feels.

Dr. Jimenez is a member of various professional organizations including the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), Dade Association of School Psychologists (DASP), Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education) and Psi Chi (National Psychology Honor Society).

Highly trained in administering psychological testing in order to assess cognitive, academic, processing, and social-emotional functioning, Dr. Jimenez conducts psychoeducational assessments with children and adolescents from Prekindergarten through Grade 12. Observations of the child in the home or school setting are also incorporated when deemed necessary. These evaluations involve in-depth interviews and testing tailored to the child, followed by a feedback session to collaboratively formulate a plan for maximizing the student’s academic and emotional potential. A psychoeducational report is then provided, detailing the findings and including recommendations for parents, teachers, and collaborating professionals.

Dr. Jimenez also conducts gifted evaluations to assess intellectual ability and determine the need for a more challenging school experience. These assessments involve an interview with a parent and administration of an intelligence scale. Assessments are always conducted in a professional, timely, and cost-effective manner.

Presently, Dr. Jimenez lives with her husband and two children in Coral Gables, Fl. During her spare time, she enjoys travelling, the arts, and spending time with her family.
